Description
The Railway is the most southerly steam and diesel locomotive operated tourist operation anywhere in the world. It is isolated geographically and conceptually from other heritage railway operations and therefore finds it difficult to access advice and engineering support based on best practice to be found elsewhere.
IRHC was chosen to act as the Railway’s UK Agent and has provided a broad range of support, both on the ground and remotely, including engineering, locomotive operations, boiler management, steam air pump components and operation, the supply of operating manuals, diesel locomotive spare parts sourcing, and the provision of training for selected members of the Railway’s engineering staff, held in the United Kingdom.
Additional support included assisting in the design of the Railway’s staff structure and aiding the identification of potential General Manager candidates available on the international market.
